Husky/Mastiff Mix One Year
So a couple of months ago I explained some information on Lilly’s breed but I wanted to talk a little about how everything is going as Lilly hits her one year mark, and how age has affected her.
Lilly has hit her one year mark and her energy levels have decreased, instead of running all over the place constantly her favorite things to do is to lay on the floor chewing her beef tenderloin. The Mastiff side of her personality is showing more and the Husky side of her usually only shows now when on walks.
Lilly has always been the type to scarf down her food in two seconds leaving no pieces behind, and I think it was from her being neglected by her previous owners. Nowadays Lilly picks at her food and doesn’t scarf it all down at once, she picks at it like a comfortable, normal dog would.
Medically Lilly is a mix between a large and medium breed which can cause hip and back problems, you can tell when you take her on a long distance walks that her hips are bothering her. Most dogs between sizes have a high risk of hip dysplasia.
All-in-one Lilly has calmed down significantly from the crazy, wild dog she was when I first got her. It seems the older she gets the more she displays personality traits of a Mastiff and less like a Husky. The only thing that really hasn’t changed is her leash pulling, she still pulls but I think now it’s more the excitement about going to the dog park than a behavior trait.
